IELTS test
This test is one option for a student who needs an international language certificate to study at an English-speaking university.
All universities require their foreign students to provide proof of sufficient language skills to ensure that studying in a foreign language is successful and to be able to actively participate in teaching.
However, some universities accept certificates from Finnish high schools and universities, so you may be exempt from language tests.
The IELTS test is often a requirement for university entrance in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Tests are held every month and registrations must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the test date.
There are two different versions of the test for different purposes:
IELTS Academic
- you are applying to study abroad at a university, for a bachelor's or master's degree
- you are applying for a position that requires at least a university degree in an English-speaking country
IELTS General Training
- you are applying for student exchange
- you want to work/do an internship in an English-speaking country
- you want to take part in a vocational training program in an English-speaking country
The test is divided into four sections and you have a limited time to complete each section.
- Listening comprehension (40 min)
- Reading comprehension (60 min)
- Essay (60 mins)
- Spoken section (15 min)
Remember to register for the test that suits your purpose!
